Thermo King Partners with Grindrod to Enable Temperature Control in their Refrigerated Containers

Brussels, Apr. 1, 2020 – Thermo King, a leader in transport temperature control solutions for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Trane Technologies, announced that its South African based dealer, Grindrod Intermodal, expands its services and will now offer Thermo King SGCM-3000 generator sets (Gensets) to customers in the region.

Transporters moving perishable goods like grapes or citrus fruit throughout South Africa, can now benefit from direct access to high quality genset equipment to ensure cold chain integrity and a temperature controlled environment in their refrigerated containers throughout the entire journey from land to the port, or vice versa.

During land transportation of loaded refrigerated containers, it is recommended to use Gensets to power the container for any journey over four hours. Even a one degree Celsius increase in temperature can lead to up four days of reduced shelf life and increase the rate of food waste significantly.

Thermo King Gensets can easily be used as mobile power management solutions beyond marine or transport refrigeration applications, and can serve as a reliable main or supplementary power source.
