Protecting your marine reefers with Thermo King gensets

Marine shipping is a pillar of the global cold chain, but it is far from the only link. The cold chain doesn’t stop when the cargo ship docks at the harbor. Once the reefer is loaded off the ship and disconnected from its electric power grid, the rest of its journey begins. To continue protecting your cargo, a reefer needs an external power supply to stay and actively cool its contents.

That’s where generator sets, also known as gensets, come in. These are external generators that attach to the reefer and provide continuous power. In other words, they protect your sensitive products across the entire supply chain.

The challenges of international regulations

Generally, diesel engines power these generators. And where an internal combustion engine is involved, regulations follow. To make the matter even more complicated, international maritime regulations differ vastly across regions.

Thermo King’s SG-3500 is your ideal fit for ship fleets operating in North America, Europe and China. The SG-3500 offers a host of benefits to your fleet:

  • 3000-hour maintenance interval, unique in the industry
  • Easy to use, multi-functional controller with advanced features and a full diagnostic tool for service
  • Low fuel consumption

    • All-new flexmount that can be fitted on center-mount and side-mount configurations and offers more flexibility than the Undermount model
  • Fully compliant with EPA Tier 4, NRMM Stage V and GB4 engine options.

The evolving needs of the marine cold chain

As is often the case in the transport and logistics industry, things shift and change regularly. The current trend is changing chassis design. To help you optimize your chain management and keep up with the OEM trend, we have added a new flexmount, to expand the flexibility of already existing configurations even further.

The brand-new FLEXMOUNT is designed in direct response to requests from Chassis OEM manufacturers. It offers more flexibility and the same reliability without compromising the 3000-hour maintenance interval. The new FLEXMOUNT retains full compliance with EU regulations on NRMM engines, CE, UNECE R10 standards and is ready to optimize your cold chain journeys. Discover the new SG-3500 here.
